Summer News Summary

Well it nearing the end of Summer but it’s been a fantastic couple of months! There’s been a vast amount of activity within the Star Swimming Academy and we’ve had a wonderful time!

We cannot thank all the children and their parents for being with us during this time and we have loved having you all back with us.

We have a lot of things to talk about and update you all.

Star Swimming Academy Kidz Zone

During the lock-downs last year, we issued many paper based activities (colouring, mazes, wordsearches and quizzes) via email to keep the children in our classes entertained. This proved to be an outstanding success and we received a lot of wonderful feedback from parents to say how this helped their children and how much they enjoyed doing the activities. So over the last couple of months we have been developing a new area on the website call the SSA Kidz Zone! It went live today and we have uploaded a range of free content covering aquatics-themed topics, educational and general fun filled activities to keep you child entertained and also help with their home-schooling. These can all be downloaded and printed off so children can do them in their spare time.

HKLUB at Hurlston Hall

We had 3 great sessions at the HKLUB during the summer holidays. The session was a roaring success and we had a blast with the children who attended. The HKlub is a fully interactive holiday club for children to learn new skills and foster new friendships whilst being coached by experienced professionals.

The HKlub run different activities suitable for all age groups (5-11 years old) and abilities, such as:

Archery Games
Golf Fun
Football Focus
Dodgeball
Paintball
Fun based Swimming Pool Activities
and More

If you would like you child to attend the next School Holiday Camp, it will be running on the 25th, 26th, 27th, 28th and 29th of October, between 8:00am and 6:00pm

The costs to attend the HKLUB are:

£30 per child, per day for Members of Hurlston Hall
£35 per child, per day for Non Members of Hurlston Hall

Diddy Dolphins By Star Swimming Academy

Our new parent and baby/toddler swimming sessions which was launched just after the restrictions were lifted this year have really taken off and have been another roaring success over the last couple of months. So much of a success that we have now expanded the sessions due to popular demand.

The feedback we have received have been wonderful and it’s all credit to Lynda the program manager and her wonderful staff.

Seascope Maritime Training Pool

Just before the pandemic started, we set up new group and 1-1 learn to swim sessions in Fazackerly, Liverpool at Seascope Maritime Training Pool. Sadly, just as the sessions were starting to pick up, the pandemic started and like everyone else had to stop everything. However since the restriction were lifted, the learn to swim sessions at the Seascope Maritime Training Pool venue have really really taken off. The success of these sessions have seen us expand from a couple of days a week to seven days a week! Additionally we now include Diddy Dolphins Parent and Baby/Toddler Swimming Session at this wonderful venue that is used exclusively by the Star Swimming Academy.

Job Vacancies

We still have numerous vacancies for Swimming Instructor positions in our Liverpool, Sefton, Ormskirk and Leigh pools.

We believe at Star Swimming Academy that our staff are our most valuable assets and without them we would not be where we are, so we ensure that we reward staff with excellent terms and conditions!

We are looking for individuals that are friendly, have excellent communication skills, be a positive role model with a very approachable personality and have a talent for teaching that meets an individual swimmer’s requirements.

Swimming instructors working at Star Swimming Academy Ltd must:

• hold and maintain either a Swim England Level 1 or Level 2 Teaching Swimming Qualification, a STA Certificate in Teaching Swimming or a STA Award in Teaching Swimming,
• have a current pool rescue & first aid qualification, for example National Pool Lifeguard Qualification (NPLQ), STA Pool Lifeguard Qualification, a STA Safety Award for Instructors or a National Rescue Award for Swimming Instructors and Coaches (NRASTC),
• have a current membership to either the IoS or STA,
• be required to have an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Services (DBS) check or be cleared to work with children and vulnerable adults. If you do not have a current Enhanced DBS check in place, we can apply for this on your behalf. However, you will be required to pay for this,
• a full clean driving license, as you may be required to work at different pool venues.

2021 FitPro Awards

Voting is still taking place for this year’s 2021 FitPro Awards.

In this years awards, the Star Swimming Academy and the following members of staff have reached the final stage in the following categories:

We cannot to thank everyone enough who has helped us reach this stage. we really appreciate this support, but we still need further help from our students’ parents, our friends, business partners and family!
